DES Atrium Dedicated
At a ceremony attended by Dacusville staff, students, and community members, the Freeman Stone Atrium at Dacusville Elementary was dedicated on November 29 in honor of Mary Alma Freeman and Emma Susan Freeman Stone, sisters who owned the property where the school was built. Because the land had been in their family for more than 200 years, the sisters were not willing to sell.  When they learned that SDPC wanted to build a school on the site, however, they generously agreed to sell the property to benefit the Dacusville community.  During the ceremony, Anita Richardson, DES teacher and 2009-10 SDPC Teacher of the Year, read the text of the dedication plaque that will hang in the atrium.  After Mrs. Richardson and Dr. Michael Fleming, principal, hung the plaque, SDPC Board of Trustees member Jim Shelton and Dr. Henry Hunt made remarks.  DES Assistant Principal Robin Walsh also made a special presentation to Joey and Christian Stone, the son and grandson of Mrs. Stone.  Pictured are Pam Stone, Christian Stone, and Joey Stone.  Slideshow

Let Me SEE Site Gives Background & Preliminary Details

Let Me SEE, a temporary website, was created to communicate during the early stages of our plans. We interviewed architects, looked at potential sites and visited other facilities across the state. We gathering information. We held community input sessions and developed timetables. We thought. We were "seeing" where we're going.
